Constipation Treatment

Constipation is the passage of hard stool. This should not be confused with bowel movement.

This can be treated with bulk-forming laxatives such as Fybogel and Isogel for adults and children.

Stimulant laxatives can be used to treat constipation. These include bisacodyl (dulco-lax), co-danthramer (Codalax, Danlax), Co-danthrusate (Normax), senna (Senokot), sodium picosulfate (Dulco-lax).

Constipation can also be treated with osmotic laxatives such as lactulose, Liquid paraffin and magnesium hydroxide emulsion (Milpar).
